Collection of 13 Vintage Black & White Dog Show Photographs by Wm. Brown, Photographer of Dogs A compelling collection of 13 original black and white photographs documenting the American dog show circuit of the 1950s and 1960s. The majority are the work of Wm. Brown, Photographer of Dogs, of Forest Hills, Long Island, New York — a noted specialist in canine show photography — as evidenced by his printed studio stamp on the verso of multiple images, along with handwritten order numbers. The photographs capture classic "win shots" featuring handlers, judges, and prize-winning dogs posed alongside trophies, ribbons, and numbered placards. Venues represented include notable shows such as the Westchester Kennel Club(September 10, 1961) and the Trenton, NJ show (May 6, 1951), among others. The primary subject breed appears to be the Bloodhound, with several images showing first-place finishes and at least one "Best Dog in Show" award. Eight of the photographs are larger portrait-format prints measuring approximately 14" x 11", with five measuring 8" x 10". The smaller prints are in excellent condition; the larger prints display minor age-related yellowing consistent with their vintage. A wonderful archive for collectors of dog show memorabilia, Bloodhound enthusiasts, or historians of mid-century American kennel culture.
